Advanced ceramics are inorganic, non-metallic materials with high strength, hardness, chemical inertness, and thermal stability. They are used in a wide range of applications, including aerospace, automotive, electronics, and medical devices.
PI-KEM supplies a range of advanced ceramics, each with their own performance characteristics and applications. For example:
- Alumina: Very hard and wear-resistant material that is often used in applications where durability is critical, such as in cutting tools, bearings, and electronic components
- Zirconia: Very tough and fracture-resistant material that is often used in applications where strength and reliability are important, such as in dental implants and artificial joints
- Silicon carbide and boron carbide: Very hard and wear-resistant materials that are often used in high-temperature and high-pressure applications, such as in armour plating and semiconductor manufacturing
These are offered in standard forms and as custom manufactured components and assemblies.
