PI-KEM’s Sustainability Pledge: Powering Progress, Preserving the Planet
We believe that business success goes hand-in-hand with environmental responsibility. Success is not just measured in profits, but also in the positive impact we have on the world around us. That's why we're committed to operating with sustainability at the heart of everything we do, fostering a culture of environmental accountability that extends beyond our own walls and supports us on our journey towards net-zero.
Our Core Commitments:
- Green by Design: We prioritise eco-friendly and lower carbon alternatives in every aspect of our operations, from sourcing materials to choosing transportation methods and energy suppliers. Bulk shipping, consolidated deliveries, sustainable marketing practices, car-sharing & minimising unnecessary journeys as well as electricity from 100% renewable sources are our go-to, reducing our carbon footprint and optimising efficiency.
- Waste Not, Want Not: We champion responsible waste management. Recycling or re-using as much as possible is non-negotiable, and we actively promote a paperless office environment. E-invoicing and accepting electronic orders are the norm, minimising paper usage.
- Empowering Choices: We encourage sustainable practices among our employees and through our outreach work with local schools. Our hybrid work model reduces travel miles, while our electric company car policy and on-site charging stations make EVs an accessible option. Improved office insulation, re-purposed furniture, low-energy lighting, and smart-controlled, low-energy heating further solidify our commitment to green operations.
- Building a Sustainable Supply Chain: We partner with suppliers who share our values. Consigned shipments, recyclable or reusable packaging for example, minimise unnecessary transportation and packaging waste.
- Closing the Loop: We advocate for responsible end-of-life solutions for materials. Precious and base metals are recycled, and we actively support innovative battery recycling options and the research for improved energy production and storage options. Second-life applications for EV batteries in static energy storage systems are particularly exciting, extending their lifespan and reducing reliance on the grid. Biodegradable packaging is also on our radar, minimising waste and promoting a circular economy.
- Transparency and Collaboration: We believe in open communication and collaboration. We regularly track and report our progress on sustainability goals, participate in knowledge exchanges and training, and we actively engage with stakeholders to identify and implement new initiatives.
