Material Preparation

Reduce errors; Maximise efficiency
This is some text inside of a div block.

For materials to work well they must be prepared in an appropriate way for the application they are being used in. This can be in terms of coating, dicing, cleaning, thermal transformation, shaping or other physical changes.

Material preparation covers a vast range of equipment including:

  • Slurry & Solution Preparation and Handling

Effective mixing or splitting  ensures that solutions or slurries are of the desired viscosity so they can be delivered at the correct flow and thickness. If the incorrect viscosity is used this can lead to damage of handling equipment, inconsistent results and product being wasted. Accurate and controlled material preparation and dispensing ensures reliable material preparation, less downtime and improved productivity

    Preparation

    • Emulsifying: Distribution of solid particles within a liquid
    • Homogenising:  Mixing of liquid chemicals or nano-powder and liquid
    • Centrifugal separation: Splitting solution into constituent parts
    • Viscosity measurement

    Handling

    • Automatic bottle top dispensing
    • Precision pipette
    • Single and multi-channel digital controlled syringe pump (Heated and unheated)

  • UV-Ozone & Plasma Cleaning

    chevron icon

The use of plasma and UV-ozone cleaners ensures impurities and contaminants are removed from the surface of the materials being processed. This assists in applications, including:

    • Bonding of materials
    • Reduction in waste
    • Reducing damage or interference to devices and sensors
    • Improved coating

    Options include:

    • Heated and non-heated
    • UV-Ozone for non-acidic, dry, non-destructive cleaning and removal of organic matter
    • Plasma for cleaning and removing organic contamination
    • Chamber sizes from 6” x 6” up to 12 litres
    • Chamber and pen systems available for plasma only

Ultrasonic cleaners working by using water vibrated at high frequency to dislodge any impurities from materials including single crystal substrates, TEM sampled and metallurgy samples.

    Options include:

    • Heated and non-heated
    • Temperature range 20°C to 80°C
    • Tank sizes from 1300ml to 30 litres
    • Digitally controlled

Electrospinners produce ultrafine fibres by injecting a charged material through an electric field.

    Options include:

    • Atmosphere controlled and ambient
    • Up to 3 collectors
    • Roll to roll programmable system with integrated dryer
    • Accessories include automated syringe pumps and replacement nozzles
