Surface Finishing

Controlled surface modification for specific research needs
This is some text inside of a div block.

The careful preparation of a substrate surface is essential to avoid failures or issues later in their life cycle.

Grinding machines use abrasive materials to remove material from a surface. Typically to prepare samples for further processing, such as polishing or microscopy.

Polishing machines use a combination of abrasive and non-abrasive materials to produce a smooth, flat surface. Typically to prepare samples for microscopy or other imaging techniques.

PI-KEM, alongside our partners MTI corporation, offer a wide range of grinders, polishers, and accessories to meet the needs of researchers and engineers in a variety of fields, including:

  • Materials science: Grinding and polishing of ceramics, metals, semiconductors, and other materials for research, development, and manufacturing
  • Microscopy: Preparation of samples for optical, scanning electron, and transmission electron microscopy
  • Nanotechnology: Fabrication of nanoscale structures and devices

MTI's grinding and polishing machines are designed to be versatile and user-friendly and to produce precise and reproducible results. The machines are available in a variety of sizes and configurations to suit different applications and a full range of consumables are available.
